At St. Vivian School, we believe and achieve!  The junior high students made their own web pages about it.  Check them out at http://technology.stvivian.org . Yeah, yeah yeah!

Be safe online!

This is a wonderful site containing true to life facts and advice concerning online safety.  There is age appropriate material for all ages, including parents! This site was created by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  I am sorry that our world needs such an organization, but it is important material!  http://www.netsmartz.org/Educators

Have You Heard?

The “buzz” around school is about the intercom system. Our current system has reached it’s life span. We will be turning to technology to solve the problem. We are looking towards sending announcements over the computers. This will allow us to recycle our existing inventory to provide a campus wide voice for Mr. Z. Testing of the new system will begin on the first day of school! We hope to possibly integrate video, so that Mr. Z can speak to us straight from his desk to our whiteboards! Stay tuned!

Thank you PTA!

Late last school year, the PTA awarded me a $350 grant to investigate affordable interactive white board technology. This project is going well, and I am “cautiously optimistic” that we will be able to get interactive whiteboards into EVERY classroom at a very reasonable cost. THANK YOU PTA!

What’s new for 2011-2012!

We are entering our second year with our new computers. Shortly after spring break, we upgraded the computers to run Windows 7, and also run Ubuntu, a popular (and free) operating system. Grades 4-8 have a new web server. We will learn what collaboration is all about, as we build a website together to showcase our learnings, values, and achievements at St. Vivian School!

Hello to all of my St. Vivian friends and family. I am very proud to be returning for a second year! The countdown is on… I am preparing our classrooms and computer lab for another awesome year. I cannot wait to see everyone again! I guess that I cannot use the “new guy card” anymore!

Do you have an old computer sitting around?  St. Vivian will recycle it!  We can use your computers, keyboards, printers, etc. for our Technology Cadaver Lab.  All parts will be recycled.  Mr. Ehling will securely destroy your hard drive (Best Buy charges $25 to do so).  Funds raised will benefit technology in our school!

*******NOTE: WE CANNOT ACCEPT MONITORS!*******

Monitors can be recycled at Compton Recycling, 2551 Compton Rd. for a charge of $3 each.
